About Us

Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. Its constituent colleges are Madras Institute of Technology, College of Engineering Guindy, A.C. College of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities.

Madras Institute of Technology is a pioneer institute established by the great visionary and industrialist Shri C.Rajam on 18th of July 1949. In the true sense of the motto �In service of India�, besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. The education in this institute is application oriented, thereby helping the students make a smooth transition from college to the industrial world. This is reflected in the profile of the vast number of MIT alumini occupying key positions in various MNCs and Research Organizations all across the globe. This industrious list is headed by the President of India His Excellency Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.

The AU-KBC Research Centre has been setup in the MIT Campus of Anna University with the support of Mr. K. B. Chandrasekhar, one of its alumni. Its goals is to become a world class research centre generating papers, patents and products of International quality.
